Where you are right now

You cut down on the aircond,
and the bill still barely moves.

Most homeowners already know about solar. They get stuck on the same three things — and these are the three sentences we hear most often.

“My neighbour already installed and I want it too. But when the quotation came, the number gave me a shock.”

The most common first obstacle

“I've already paid tens of thousands, and every month it still feels like I'm paying hundreds more. Is it even worth it?”

Not afraid of the price — afraid they can't do the maths

“What worries me most is drilling into the roof and then it leaks. And when there's a problem, nobody picks up, or they take forever to reply.”

This question is exactly our field

3–5×

Electricity and raw material prices only go one way. In 10 or 20 years they could be 3 to 5 times today's price.
The earlier you install, the lower the cost you lock in — and the earlier a roof problem is caught, the cheaper it is to fix.

30-second check

Let's start with the most practical question

In the solar industry, your average monthly bill decides almost everything — whether it's worth it, how big the system should be, how long the payback takes.
We would rather tell you now that it isn't the right time, than waste your time.

What is your average monthly electricity bill?

Take the average of your last three TNB bills

The ranges above come from real De Solar residential customer data.
Your actual system size, price and payback period can only be confirmed after a site visit and a usage analysis.

What solar can do for you

Turn that baking hot roof space
into an asset that earns every single day.

Use your own electricity during the day

Solar generates electricity using your roof space and cuts your dependence on the grid. If someone is home during the day — elderly parents, children, a home office — your self-consumption rate is higher, and the payback comes faster.

Sell the excess back to TNB

Most home systems are on-grid systems, which integrate with your existing TNB supply. Whatever you don't use during the day can be sold back to TNB.

After payback, it's almost free electricity

Once the system has paid for itself, the years after that are almost all “free electricity”. System lifespan is over 30 years — it's like locking in the next 20 years of electricity at today's price.

It still generates on cloudy days

Modern solar panels keep generating in overcast and diffused light. Efficiency drops 10–20%, but bifacial panels can still add 15–25% more generation — enough to cover the weather difference.

You can add a battery later

The system can be designed as an upgradable setup: start with a hybrid inverter, then add battery storage (BESS) later to use at night and buy less from TNB.

Track your generation from your phone

The inverter comes with remote monitoring and an app. You can check daily generation any time. When you can see the numbers, you know the savings are real.

The De Solar difference

We're not a solar company that added roofing.
We did roofing for 22 years, then moved into solar.

Where do solar panels get installed? On your roof.
So the thing you should really be worried about isn't the generation — it's whether drilling into the roof will cause leaks later, and who will be responsible.

“The big companies are cheaper than us — if all you want is solar panels, they are genuinely the better choice.
But if you also care about the lifespan and the structure of your roof, we are your only option.
Anyone who becomes our solar customer: if the roof has a problem later, we settle it in one go.”

Roofing & installation

One factory,
two signboards, one team.

De Skylight Roofing Sdn Bhd and De Solar Sdn Bhd operate out of the same factory, under the same team. You are not hiring a solar company plus a roofing subcontractor — it's the same team, start to finish.

The first solar company in Malaysia with its own roofing and skylight manufacturing
  • Started with roof awning installation in 2004, set up our own factory in 2006.
  • 40+ in-house installers (not counting management) — nothing subcontracted, nothing handed off to someone else.
  • Concrete tiles, metal tiles, metal deck, asbestos sheets — we have worked on every roof material there is.
  • We inspect the roof condition before installing, and work to proper waterproofing and mounting methods.
  • We give a 2-year workmanship / leak-proof warranty.

Where we came from

“We can go slow,
but we can't stop.”

With solar, most people only look at the panels. We look at the roof first. The story of Lawrence, Jeff and Daniel didn't start with solar — it started with roofs.

  • 2004

Three people started a business installing roof awnings, serving the Malay market. That's 22 years ago now — this is genuinely our expertise.

  • 2006

Set up our own factory. To this day we still fabricate the solar mounting structures ourselves in that factory, rather than buying them ready-made.

  • 2010

The years when we took almost every commercial project going — as long as there was work, we took it. The work all got completed, but collecting payment was genuinely hard, until our own company ended up in a financial crisis. All three of them took on over seven figures in credit card borrowings purely to keep the company running — because we had already promised the market a 15-year warranty, and a promise like that can't simply be dropped.

That taught us one thing: not every job is a job we should take.

  • 2020

Moved into solar. We noticed that plenty of people talk about panels, but hardly anyone talks about the roof — even though those panels will sit on your roof for more than 20 years. That is exactly why De Solar started.

  • Today

Our main focus is residential homes. We still take commercial projects, but only the ones that genuinely fit — so that every customer who chooses us is one we can look after all the way through. Our installation team is 40+ people, all our own, and De Solar is registered with SEDA.

In one housing area, more than 20 homes installed solar with us. It started with a single house — then one neighbour recommended the next.

However hard it gets, you keep going. You can go slow, but you can't stop.

What customers say

After installing,
what happened to the bill?

The following is taken from customer interview videos recorded by De Solar. Want to watch the full videos? Just WhatsApp us.

“Before solar, my bill was around RM400 plus. Sometimes even higher.”

A year after installation, the De Solar team returned to his house for the first-year maintenance service (O&M). He has also introduced De Solar to his colleagues and friends.

Warranty & after-sales

Solar is a “install once,
use it for twenty-odd years” decision.

Frequently asked questions

The 14 questions homeowners ask us most

Solar lets you generate electricity using your roof space, reduces your dependence on grid electricity, and gives you a chance to bring down your electricity spending over the long run.
System size is determined by the following factors:
  • Total annual electricity usage (from your TNB bill analysis)
  • Usable roof area / ground space
  • Peak-hour usage requirements
We carry out a site visit + energy analysis + system design, and recommend the plan that best suits your home.
Generally we recommend a system that covers 70%–100% of your daytime usage, for the best ROI.
The cost of a solar system varies according to:
  • System size
  • Panel specification
  • Inverter type
  • Whether battery storage (BESS) is included
  • Installation location and how complex the work is
For De Solar residential customers, typical capacity falls between 12 – 22 kWp, with a typical price range of RM26,000 – RM39,000. The actual price can only be confirmed after a site visit.
Payback depends on total system cost, annual generation, your household's self-consumption rate, the electricity tariff, and how excess electricity is accounted for. That is why payback differs from house to house.

On average, De Solar residential customers reach payback in 3.5 – 6 years. After that, the following years are almost all “free electricity”.
Proper design and installation generally will not damage the roof. The roof condition must be inspected before installation, and the work must be done by professional installers using correct waterproofing and mounting methods.

This is the single biggest difference between De Solar and a typical solar company — we have been doing roofing work since 2004, the installation team is our own people, and we give a 2-year workmanship / leak-proof warranty. If the roof has a problem later, the same company settles it in one go.
The full EPCC process covers:
  • Site visit & design and application — 2 – 4 weeks
  • Installation work — 4 – 6 weeks
  • Testing & grid connection (T&C) — 6 – 8 weeks
Total duration is roughly 2 – 3 months.
No. A solar system is low-maintenance equipment. Usually it only needs:
  • A panel wash once a year
  • Periodic system checks
We also provide free O&M (maintenance service) for the first 3 years, to keep the system running stably and generation at its best.

Worth noting: built-up dust or leaves can cut generation efficiency by 5–10%. So periodic checks are the key to keeping the system running efficiently.
Of course. Most home systems are on-grid systems:
  • They integrate with your existing electrical system
  • Excess electricity can be sold back to TNB
  • A hybrid inverter / battery storage (BESS) can be added to ride through supply interruptions
  • Solar panels: 20-year warranty
  • Inverter: 10-year warranty, with remote monitoring and an app
  • Workmanship / leak-proofing: 2-year warranty
  • Free O&M maintenance: first 3 years
  • Overall system lifespan: more than 30 years
We only use international Tier-1 brands (Astronergy, SolaX, SkyWorth) to ensure long-term stability and reliability.
The panels themselves essentially produce no noticeable sound. The inverter in the system may make a slight operating sound, but it normally has no noticeable effect on daily life at home.
Yes. Modern solar panels still generate electricity in overcast and diffused light. Efficiency drops 10–20%, but bifacial panels can still add 15–25% more generation, enough to cover the weather difference.
Customers can choose a financing method that suits their cash flow:
  • Outright purchase: lowest total cost
  • Bank loan / hire purchase: pay in instalments to reduce the upfront burden
Yes. A battery helps you:
  • Use electricity at night
  • Buy less electricity from TNB
The system can be designed as an upgradable setup: install a hybrid inverter first → add the battery in future.
